FINDING THE RIGHT MATCH
We tell you about one or more dogs that seem to be a good match. Then you can visit each dog in his or her foster home, where you can get the best idea of how they will behave in your home once they've settled in. Bring your other dog(s) along to meet him or her. If it seems like a good match, sign the paperwork and take your dog home. If not, we'll continue giving you options until you find the right dog.
Adoption Representatives
In response to your application, one of our adoption representatives will set up a time to bring a greyhound or two for a home visit. They will talk with you about adopting a greyhound and any safety issues they have noticed during the visit like street access doors; in-door or outdoor hazards like sharp objects or plants; big & low windows or doors, unfenced pools; etc. Part of that discussion will include suggestions for physical changes that should be made prior to adopting. The adoption representative will give you some tips for choosing the right dog. Some of the topics discussed might be about the personalities or habits of your current dog(s) and what greyhound qualities or personalities might work best with them. It could also be about steps to take to help your greyhound adapting to life as an only dog or maybe about living with cats. When the adoption representative visits you this is a great time to ask as many questions as possible to determine if a greyhound is the right dog for you.
