GreySave's New Mission - Transport Partnerships
UPDATE - In January 2024 the Caliente track will be dropping from 7 days of racing to two. There are between 380 and 400 dogs at that track. Some of these greyhounds have been at Caliente their whole career, quite a few have run over 300 races and some are in their 5th decade. Our only mission in '24 will be for us to be there for them as they retire.
Since our founding in 2006 GreySave brought home and adopted 90 to 120 dogs a year however we knew that '21 was not going to be business as usual year. When the Florida tracks closed in 2020 we realized that GreySave was going to have a problem with capacity since so many dogs were moving to Caliente and might be retiring out in 2020, 2021 or after. When we figured this out GreySave reached out to other NGA Recommended greyhound groups that we knew had adoption policies like ours and a history of great greyhound care. We were especially interested in adoption groups that had the capacity to take in broken leg greyhounds, along with healthy hounds. Our two closest adoption partners were Greyhound Pets of Arizona in Clarkdale/Scottsdale AZ and Southern Arizona Greyhound Adoption in Tucson however we worked with many of the groups that could transport.

We also did this because after 2020 some of the groups we work with no longer have updated websites like we do and some didn't post to Greyhound Data. We hope that this list helps people who were looking for dogs from their Florida, West Virginia, Dubuque and Southland race days. We have also put these dogs up on Greyhound data listed through GreySave but noting which group took in the hounds.
