INTERESTED IN ADOPTING A GREYHOUND?

The greyhound is a very unique breed of dog.  Their heritage can be traced back thousands of years.  Their original role was to use their wit and speed to hunt.  Greyhounds came to the US from England and Ireland not to be a pet but to keep critters at bay in the farm and rangeland of the US.  The greyhounds we know and love today are mostly ex-racing greys.  They are different from other breeds of dogs in their life experiences, their training and in some ways their physical nature. GreySave is a greyhound adoption and support group that relies 100% on volunteers to do its greyt work.  GreySave was incorporated in California and became a Federal 501(c)(3) in late 2006.  As of June 2015, GreySave has brought in and adopted over 1000 greyhounds  to forever homes.

Our goal is always a match that's great for both dog and family. Please allow us to help you find the best greyhound for you. If you are interested in adopting a greyhound, complete the Adoption Application and an Adoption Representative will be in touch regarding the process.

STEPS TO ADOPT FROM GREYSAVE

Once you're ready to adopt, we've outlined the steps necessary to take: 1. Complete a GreySave Adoption Application 2. Schedule a Home Visit 3. Choose Your Greyhound 4. Sign the GreySave Adoption Agreement 5. Pay GreySave's Adoption Fee 6. Take Home Your New Friend!

FINDING THE RIGHT MATCH

We will tell you about one or more dogs that seem to be a good match. Then you can visit each dog in his or her foster home, where you can get the best idea of how they will behave in your home once they've settled in. 

ADOPTION APPLICATION 

GreySave's main goal is to find the right home for the right dog--and to find the right dog for the right home. To help GreySave do this, please fill out this application completely and accurately, with as much detail as possible. Please note our adoption feee is $350 which is only a portion of what it costs to get a greyhound ready to adopt.

ADOPTING A PUPPY

GreySave primarily obtains ex-racing Greyhounds from various tracks. These are adult dogs, generally between 18 months and 5 years old. However, we obtained a pregnant female and began the adventure of raising Greyhound puppies.
