VOLUNTEER
GreySave is staffed entirely by volunteers. It has no paid positions. Most of our volunteers have worked in greyhound adoption for many years. They give of their time and money out of love for the dogs and commitment to the goal of saving greyhounds. Here are a few of the ways that you can become involved. Check out the Event Calendar for opportunities to participate, and e-mail us with questions to learn more about how to make a difference in the lives of retired greyhounds.
BE A GREYSAVE AMBASSADOR OR
JOIN A GREYHOUND WALKING GROUP
Spread the word - Pass out GreySave business cards while you walk your dog. Spread the word on social media. Tell everyone you meet what great pets greyhounds make! Email us for more information on volunteer opportunities.
Take a Walk - Greyhound adopters and friends from GreySave or other local groups do weekly, monthly or occasional walks in various locations in California. Check the link below for more information on a location near you then join the fun! Make sure to contract the event lead to confirm its information is the most current.
FOSTER A GREYHOUND
GreySave has three types of foster homes - One takes in new and healthy hounds from the track and helps them to become a canine companion. Another takes care of injured hounds and a third that takes in the post-spay hounds for about 48 hours after their surgery before returning them to their foster or Foster to Adopt homes.
We are always looking to add new foster homes! And we do provide an experienced foster home partner to help as needed. GreySave tries to being in new greyhounds from the track once a month or every 5 weeks but how many we can bring in depends largely on how many foster homes we have.
VOLUNTEER AT A HOMECOMING
Volunteers can help with anything from bringing dogs from the track to facility setup/teardown, washing dogs, clipping toenails, brushing, preparing food for workers, helping with cat and small animal testing, to taking pictures of the dogs.
