EVENTS

GreySave events are a fun, welcoming way to get to know the breed up close! Our passionate volunteers love sharing their knowledge, answering questions, and introducing you to these amazing dogs. Each year, we celebrate with our Oktoberfest picnic and host two fundraising Spa Days to support our greyhounds and the work we do. You can find more information on both events below.

GREYSAVE SPA DAYS

This year, GreySave plans to hold 2 Spa days in several different locations in Southern CA.  Our first one will be on TBA in Long Beach and TBA in Ventura.

OKTOBERFEST

GreySave's Oktoberfest - TBD

GreySave tries to have at least one large social event annually. These events are lots of fun, greyt
for the greyhound community and pretty nice as a fundraiser. There are usually 200 to 250 people
and at least as many greyhounds at these events.
Please do come and join us for this wonderful gathering.

GreySave's Oktoberfest festival will be held TBD. This year's Oktoberfest will bring back the popular costume contest. We will also have our unique fun favorite, the greyhound carnival and raffle opportunities.  We will include our popular chicken, carnitas and vegan tacos, salad, homemade dessert bar, water and soda. Plus, there will be plenty of time to rest and socialize with your greyhound friends.

If you wish to donate or volunteer with the carnival booths or dessert bar please see the named contacts below:

This fall's Oktoberfest event will be held at Crescenta Valley Regional Park, 3901 Dunsmore Avenue, La Crescenta, CA 91214 from 10 am to 3pm. Crescenta Valley Regional Park is a well cared for LA City park with several recreational areas.  GreySave reserves the area in the back of the park, over the narrow bridge and behind the arroyo fencing.  For more information on the park please check out their website.

This event is a great day at a shady park tucked away from busy streets and traffic. This September event will mark our 19th year as a greyhound adoption group and we are looking forward to some fun with our hounds and a greyt social time with our friends.  On the day of the event don't forget to bring you e-mail confirmation, your Benefactor free event tickets, your hounds, blankets, chairs, dog pads, and most importantly don't forget your x-pens.

We will have 3 categories for the costume contest:
~Matching Costumes: these costumes involve owners and their dogs coordinating their outfits for a themed look. Example, A dog and owner dressed as superheroes.
~Animal Costumes: These costumes made dogs look like other animals. Example, lion, dinosaur, cat
~Character Costumes: These costumes made dogs look like specific characters from movies, TV shows or fictional worlds. Example, Superman, Indiana Jones

Volunteers

We Always Need Volunteers

For the Oktoberfest to be successful GreySave will need plenty of volunteers to help us pull off a greyt day! Specifically, if you are one of those people who can come early and help set up, stay late to help clear everything away and/or help with events during the day we need you. Or if you can help by taking greyt pictures, working in a carnival booth or making yummy cookies for dessert we also would love to hear from you.  It takes quite a bit of planning and then on-site execution and your help will enable one or our hardworking committee members to take a break and enjoy the day along with everyone else. Please email Judy and Julie at hucksmom11@hotmail.com and julie@greysave.com. We would really appreciate your help!

GREYHOUND WALKS

Greyhound walks are a great way to meet other sighthound lovers and enjoy time outdoors with your dog. The walks listed (link below) are organized by local groups and individuals and are shared as a courtesy for our community.

While GreySave doesn’t host these events, we’re happy to help spread the word!
