Current GreySave Scoop

• Fall 2011
The Fall 2011 issue of the GreySave Scoop is 11 pages large! It introduces the GreySave van, our first vehicle. Also, read about letting sleeping dogs lie, and about how to deal with itchy skin and drippy noses. You'll also read part two of "The Covert Adventures of S.P.I.," see the dogs we've adopted out since May, and read a tribute to Flora the Adorable. You'll learn about Honey's personal homecoming, from no less than Honey herself. Plus you'll see some greyhound comics.

Click on Fall 2011 above to view it. This is a PDF file, which can be viewed and printed from the free Adobe Reader program. If you don't have it, download it at: http://www.adobe.com/reader.

Back Issues

• Spring 2011
The Spring 2011 issue of the GreySave Scoop answers your questions about first aid for your greyhound, including the essentials for your greyhound first aid kit. We also detail products that some have found helpful (not ads, just recommendations from our members). You'll also read part 1 of "The Covert Adventures of S.P.I.," learn about how to protect your grey from heatstroke and over-exertion, and get tips on handling a multiple dog household. You'll see who was adopted since January, learn about a famous coursing greyhound, and much, much more!

• Fall-Winter 2010
In this issue you'll read our year in review, with a focus on news and events in the last quarter like the biggest Fall Social ever. Our resident animal behaviorist, Bonnie Jeffers, answers a question about how to deal with leash aggression. GreySave President Cathy Kiburtz talks about the problem of lost greyhounds, dealing with diarrhea, and the various problems that can cause your grey to limp. Don't miss the cool stuff on the last page!

• Summer 2010
This issue will help you catch up with what's new in GreySaveland in the last couple of months, including recent adoptions, and recent additions to the GreySave website such as the Rainbow Bridge. GreySave President Cathy Kiburtz talks about two key greyhound health issues: weight and dental hygiene. You'll learn about hiking with your greyhound and random fun facts about greys. We also provide links to the greyt vendors at our picnic in case you didn't buy something you wish you had. Plus lots of other fun stuff.

• Spring 2010
Read about recent GreySave successes and challenges, including the dogs we've placed in the last quarter, the major PetCo grant we were awarded, and the fun time GreySave folks had at the annual grey gathering in Solvang (including lots of photos). Learn about the dangers of letting your dog go "naked" (without ID tags), and about recent greyhound track closures and their impact on greyhound adoption. You'll laugh, maybe roo, at the the humor and greyhound cartoons. Thanks go to Michael O'Toole for his tremendous work designing and assembling the newsletter!

Winter 2009
You'll read about GreySave growth and challenges in the past year, learn how to introduce your greyhound to your cat, find out how to provide good dental care to your hound, learn about the many littermates that have been adopted through GreySave, get coached on the steps to making your grey a Canine Good Citizen, see the hounds placed since July, and read about how to overcome typical greyhound ownership challenges. Plus fun photos, a greyhound poem, and other cool stuff.
