Scoop
GreySave Adoption News –
The last 8 weeks have been very busy ones for GreySave. We have
had “Home Comings” for seven wonderful greyhounds, including
2 puppies. So far three have already found their Forever Homes and
two are back together again and in a Foster to Adopt home. Our 1st
adoptee, Astro Duck, now named Contessa (Tessa) lives in Malibu
with her adopted mom. Tessa is a pretty light brindle Arizona chick
who has a great deal since she can go to work every day if she wanted
with her mom. Scout, one of our amazing Bakersfield boys, has a
new family too. He lives in Newbury Park and gets plenty of attention
from is very own work from home dad and pre-teen sister. Owen (pictured
above), a very handsome white and red boy picked out his new home
in La Canada just a week ago and is well entrenched now. He has
4 people to love him, a dad that works at home just to keep him
company, a big yard to play in, a little girl pug companion and
a neighbor’s cat to tease him. Ace and Pilot, the other two
Bakersfield boys, were re-united on Saturday and are living in Santa
Monica with their foster dad, getting to go on many walks and just
kicking back as greyhounds do. Who could ask for anything more?
As I mentioned GreySave has two quite precious puppies.
Maverick our tuxedo fire ball featured on our website and Bandit
the sweet and cuddly boy shown napping at the Sherman Oaks Meeting
and Greet. Maverick will be available for adoption very soon since
he is about to loose that last baby tooth and then can be neutered.
Bandit is almost ready for adoption too but has a cough that he
can’t quite shake. Both puppies are just wonderful examples
of why we all love greyhounds. They are sweet, cuddly, playful and
SOOO cute! If you are interested in having a puppy to love please
send us a note through the website.
GreySave Home Coming News –
On Saturday the 9th GreySave took their first trip down to the Caliente
Race Track in Tijuana Mexico and came home with seven lucky greyhounds
that are now know as Santa’s seven reindeers. There are four
girls, Comet, Dancer, Prancer and Vixen and three boys, Blitzen,
Dasher and Rudolph of course! They are lucky because they will be
home for the holidays all cozy and loved. Going to the track and
actually having to select the dogs to take home was quite exciting
and rewarding but at the same time un-nerving to think about the
greyhounds we left behind. Since then, we have comforted each other
with the knowledge that the greyhounds we left in the pet kennel
are safe. However, they too need to have their Homecoming soon to
make room for those about to end their racing careers and to find
their safe entry into the pet kennel. To that end GreySave is planning
their next trip to Mexico in mid-January so if course if you can
foster them please send us an e-mail through the website or call
Jeanine Yutani.
Meet & Greet News –
PetCo
- GreySave has been accepted into the PetCo Adoption Partner’s
program. As a member we are welcomed to hold Meet and Greets at
the many PetCo locations and also participate in PetCo quarterly
fundraising events, pet adoption days and Greyhound Planet day.
If you would like to hold Meet and Greets in your local store and
participate in the PetCo generous fundraising programs for GreySave
contact Cathy Kiburtz. Cathy will help you get set up with the manager
and provide you GreySave’s member number.
PetsMart – GreySave has been
tentatively approved to be a member of the PetsMart Adoption Partner’s
program. The application was filed with the main office in Phoenix
and approved. The final step is to get the local store manager to
do a home visit of our “kennel” or in our case a foster
home. At this point, I am planning that to be done by the Pasadena
store manager however if you have a PetsMart manager in your area
that you are familiar with we may be able to expedite the process
by having them do the foster home visit. If you think your local
manager would help with this process please call the Meet and Greet
Coordinator, Cathy Kiburtz.
Fund Raising News –
GreySave now has a Untied Way not-for profit organization number
for any business who processed their company’s contributions
through the Los Angeles United Way office. If you would like a contribution
to GreySave through United Way contact Cathy Kiburtz for the GreySave
charity number. |
