OzzieOzzie -- Adopted and living in Alta Loma
Age: 3 1/2 Sex: M Color: Red brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Yes/Workable

Ozzie came into the foster home like he had lived with the other dogs in the house for years. They loved him and he loved them. He is such an easy going, gets along with everyone type of boy that he will do well in any household. He was easy to house train and pretty much ignores the small dog in the foster home. He loves walks and will do the happy dance when the leashes come out. He is also very enthusiastic about eating and waits in his spot, wagging his tail wildly, while his meal is prepared. Once in a while he will get spooked by something like the ceiling fan, but he just looks at it sideways, barks and then follows the lead of the other dogs in the house and gets on a dog bed next to his people.

ClarkClark -- Adopted and living in Glendora
Age: 3 Sex: M Color: Dark brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Yes/Yes

Clark is one of the happiest, goofiest hounds around. He is good natured pretty much 24/7 and is happy to try anything at least once. He is best described by the word “goober” and just wants to be part of whatever is happening around the homestead. He adjusted quickly to the pack in his foster home: two greyhounds, an all-purpose dog (a border collie mix) and four cats. He was a little interested in the cats at the beginning, but with some correction has adjusted to having them around. And even though he’s extraordinarily mellow, he’s a bit protective of his space and would probably not do really well with very young children. Clark is able to learn extremely quickly. He has learned that he’s to go to his bed while the grub’s being fixed, that he is not allowed to molest any of the slower eaters at mealtime, and most of all, that the human’s plate is not the greyhound’s plate…good dog! Tell him something once and he gets it.

He loves his daily four-mile walk and is unfazed by the pedestrian bridge over the freeway, the giant crane that’s laying pipe, or the man jumping rope & making weird noises in the park. His only issues seem to be clinginess & occasional unexplained anxiety in the car. He probably would not do well as an only dog because of his need for other animals and people around him.

GusGus -- Adopted and living in Pomona
Age: 5 Sex: M Color: Red brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: No/No

With his gentle manner and furry coat, Gus is like a big, animated teddy bear. He loves to be with his people and soak up their love and attention. He gets along well with the dogs in his foster pack (all greyhounds). He enjoys playing with the other dogs at times and is very appropriate. He also loves to play with toys. Gus is a track dog that came out of an animal shelter, so he has been in a home for a while. He has adjusted very quickly to life in his foster home. He walks on leash very well. He's a quick learner--he has learned to sit on command in a short time. For people of all sorts and medium to large dogs, he will be a wonderful, loving companion.

SparksSparks -- Adopted and living in Lancaster
Age: 4 Sex: F Color: Dark brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Yes/Yes

Sparks, or Princess Sparkie, or Miss Snuggles, is a dark brindle lady with expressive eys who has one mission in life: to be near her people. She is as sweet and affectionate as any greyhound can possibly be. Sparks rides well in the car, walks well on lead, and has spurts of playful energy. She tested cat safe, but shows interest in cats during her walks. She gets along well with the two greyhounds in her foster home, but prefers to be with her foster mom. She would do well as an only dog.

VegasVegas -- Adopted and living in Burbank
Age: 4 1/2 Sex: M Color: Black
Small dog/cat tolerant: Yes/Yes

Vegas is the classic easy-going greyhound.  He settled into retired life in the foster home within an hour. He is a fairly mellow boy that just loves all people, young and old. He is extremely affectionate and will give kisses. He would make a fabulous "meet and greet" dog due to his calm, loving, even-tempered nature. He lives with a small dog but pretty much just ignores it. He also ignores toys, but will run a few laps around the yard when the other greyhounds get going. One thing gets this boy very excited: food! He loves it and does the happy dance at mealtimes.  He is perfectly behaved on a leash and walks casually beside his person. He comes very well when called and generally just likes to hang out in the room where his people are.

WinnemuccaWinnemucca -- Adopted and living in Norco
Age: 3 1/2 Sex: F Color: Black
Small dog/cat tolerant: Yes/No

Winnemucca, or “Winnie,” is an affectionate, people-oriented, toy-loving, well-balanced little girl. At only 55 pounds, she’s also about as small as they come. She gets along fine with the other greys in her foster pack, but she is highly attached to her people. She will want more attention than the average greyhound, and could possibly do fine as an only dog. Winnie is very curious about her new world. She has a lot of confidence, but isn’t pushy. She walks very well on a leash; she stays right by her person. She loves to play with toys of any kind. She is highly food motivated, so she should be easy to train. Her sweetness and playfulness persuaded the vet tech who helped with her spay to adopt a greyhound the next time she can take a dog.

CarsonCarson -- Adopted and living in Castaic
Age: 1 1/2 Sex: M Color: Red brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Yes/No

Carson is a friendly and affectionate dog. He does not live with other dogs or kids, but he is gentle with the ones he has met.  He does well as an only dog. He enjoyed being at GreySave's recent "Race to the Park" event, where he won the "bobbing for hot dogs" contest and collected funds as the honorary "Donation Dog." He can be a bit shy initially in new situations.

Carson is a goofy dog who enjoys a well-stuffed Kong toy and taking naps in the house or in the sun. He is curious and a quick learner. He is housebroken. Carson is generally a low energy dog, but enjoys a high-speed sprint around the backyard. He walks well on the leash, and does fine in a crate.

SpiritSpirit -- Adopted and living in Los Angeles
Age: 2 Sex: F Color: Fawn
Small dog/cat tolerant: Yes/No

Spirit is a very shy but special girl.  She is full of life and energy and is still quite the puppy at just 2 years old. She plays with toys, dog beds, towels, laundry and anything else she can find. She must be placed in a home with other dogs, preferably greyhounds or a hound-like dog. This is because while she communicates well in the dog world, she hasn’t quite figured out how to accept affection from people. She will come to her foster mom when she has a leash because she loves to go for walks. Other than that she doesn’t come up to people. She will sit two feet away from us in a dog bed, and does want to be in the same room with us, but she will run away if we try to pet her. She loves food and get excited for dinner time. We do feel that she will warm up to people and be a wonderful companion once she figures out that people are her friends. She just needs a special home that will work with her--using positive training methods--and help her come out of her shell.  Spirit has tested cat friendly and is living happily with a small dog.

ElkoElko -- Adopted and living in Indio
Age: 2 Sex: F Color: Fawn
Small dog/cat tolerant: Yes/Yes

Elko likes to play with toys and other dogs. Her personality is starting to emerge. She is sweet and gentle, but still a bit timid about noises and quick movements. She is very polite--usually waits her turn, and does not get on furniture. She enjoys hugs and has started to cuddle. We continue to work on her tendency to "counter surf." Her absolutely favorite thing is to shred a newspaper left within her reach.

SmithSmith -- Adopted and living in Tarzana
Age: 2 Sex: M Color: Red brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Yes/Yes

Smith is a wonderful dog. His personality is very endearing and can be quite comical at times. He is outgoing, playful, and very sweet. He loves his toys, laying in his baby pool, and being outside. He plays with our Collie, his blanket, and loves any type of chewies we can put in his face (bullies, pig ears, greenies). We are making great progress with housebreaking and he is quite content in his crate when we leave the house. Sometimes he takes his toys to the crate on his own and sleeps in it with the door open. He is very puppy-like, so occasionally we have to exchange a chew toy for a shoe or a pillow. He is doing great on the leash and loves to go for walks. He will surely steal your heart.

WilliamWilliam -- Adopted and living in Fullerton
Age:3 1/2 Sex: M Color: White w/brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Yes/No

William is quite happy with his retirement and is adjusting well to home life. He taught himself the dog door and has used it since the day he arrived. William loves his people and helps them get ready for work, and supervises their yard work, vacuuming, cooking. He justs wants to be close all the time. While he’d prefer to sleep with his people, he thinks sharing a bed with the other dogs is OK too. He is very loving and thinks tummy rubs are the best. He has started to play with toys and finds them lots of fun. William needs to have a secure yard since he is still very curious about the outside world. He gets along great with the other greyhound and the Australian Cattle Dog in his foster home. He is a wonderful, intelligent boy who will bring many smiles and much happiness to his forever family.

WilsonWilson-- Adopted and living in North Hollywood
Age: 2 1/2 Sex: M Color: Dark brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: Yes/Yes

Wilson is a brindle boy who is slowly learning how to be a dog. For the first month, he would stick close to his person and observe his surroundings. Now he is venturing to meet other people and dogs.  When we come home he does a dance to show that he is happy. He recently found out what toys are and pulls them out of the basket over the course of the day.

ShastaShasta -- Adopted and living in Pacific Palisades
Age: 7 Sex: F Color: White w/fawn
Small dog/cat tolerant: Yes/No

Shasta is white with lovely brown markings and a beautiful, distinctive face.  Although she is a bit older than her other friends brought back from the track, you would never know it from her upbeat and outgoing demeanor.  She has been such a joy for her foster family, and brings new smiles every day.  Shasta is very happy and curious about life, and adjusted almost immediately to being a pet. She loves to cozy up on her dog beds or take a nap in the grass while lying in the sunshine in the backyard. She especially loves discovering new toys, and will run back and forth with them before settling down with them on her bed. Shasta is living with two other greyhounds and an Italian Greyhound, and gets along with the pack wonderfully. So she should be fine living with small or large dogs. She is very ladylike about sharing food, toys, and beds, and likes to play with her foster brothers and sisters.  Shasta is very loving and trusting of people, and learns very quickly.  She is a smiley, happy girl who is thoroughly enjoying her retirement!

OlympiaOlympia --Adopted and living in Huntington Beach
Age: 4 Sex: F Color: Red brindle
Small dog/cat tolerant: No/No

Olympia is a sweet, friendly, happy, tail-wagging girl. Her white neck, four white feet, and, of course, the tip of her tail are lovely accents to her beautiful red brindle coloring. Olympia, or "Pia" as her foster family calls her, taught herself to use the doggy door on her second day in her new home. She hasn't had one accident in the house. In her second week off the track she discovered toys and she has one favorite which she carries as she greets her humans after work. She likes to pay with both of her foster brothers. She even wants to share their beds sometimes. Pia loves people too. She walks pretty well on a leash, pulling a bit but she stops when she's corrected. She likes riding in the car and lies down and relaxes shortly after the ride begins.

LeviLevi --Adopted and living in Huntington Beach
Age: 5 Sex: M Color: Fawn
Small dog/cat tolerant:

Levi is a very sweet, laid back, and mellow dog. As a re-homed dog he has adjusted very well to life in his current foster home. He uses a dog door with never an accident in the house. He loves to ride in the car and go camping in the RV. He has mastered the stairs, mirrors, and tile floors. He looks forward to long morning walks where new smells are becoming of great interest to him. He needs a buddy and came to us with his soul-mate "Esther." He also gets along well with another greyhound and a cattle dog. He could live with small dogs, but not with cats. Manners are his number one asset. He is learning to enjoy petting and loves to be brushed. If you are looking for a laid-back friend, then "Levi" is your boy.

EstherEsther --Adopted and living in Huntington Beach
Age: 5 Sex: F Color: Fawn
Small dog/cat tolerant: Yes/No

If you are looking for a dog that likes to be petted with lots of hugs and kisses, then Esther fits the bill. She needs to be with another dog and came to us with her buddy "Levi." As a re-homed dog she is a real pro at the dog door, tile floors, and mirrors. She needs a little more work on the stairs but is a fast learner. She enjoys walks and walks well on leash. She falls asleep in the car as soon as it gets moving. She has discovered camping and the RV are much better than that old racetrack. She loves to follow her human foster parents around, so we think her name should have been "Shadow."  She watches for us through the bedroom window as we return from work, then runs to the door to greet us. She likes to take toys out of the basket and deposit them around the room and in her bed. She could live with small dogs in the home of an owner who helped set limits for her, but not with cats. She is always willing to place her head in your lap.

RockyRocky -- Adopted and living in Pasadena
Age
: 3 Sex: M Color: Fawn
Small dog/cat tolerant: Yes/Yes

Rocky is a handsome boy who likes his laid-back retirement lifestyle. He deals well with his new condo digs and with his female greyhound and lab mix housemates. He continues to work on perfecting his approach to descending stairs. The day after leaving the racetrack, Rocky attended the Sierra Madre Wisteria Festival and amazed his foster mom and other GreySave volunteers by successfully dealing with crowd noise, constant petting, walks around town (where he was a great GreySave fund raiser). He enjoys outings, leash walks, short car trips and meeting the neighbors. His quiet, proud demeanor elicits hugs and kisses. He passed the small dog and cat test so should do well living with either or both. Rocky is a serious, gentle boy, so structure is an important factor for reinforcing his self confidence and security. He is quick to learn and wants to please. Kindness, patience and human affection make up the recipe on which he thrives.

HelenaHelena -- Adopted and living in La Canada
Helena is a 2 1/2 year-old female. She came to us from Gulf Greyhound Park racetrack in Texas.  Her racing name was True Gossip. She seems very sweet and is a bit petite.

EverestEverest -- Adopted and living in Moorpark
Everest is a wonderful 4 year-old brindle male that we have been calling Eli. He has been amazing adjusting to his new life with a Collie, a Pug, and a Brussels Griffon. He is most definitely small dog safe! He does not pay much attention to the 3 rescue kitties in his foster home and is easily corrected when he becomes too curious. He loves people and meets new faces with his tail wagging. He is still getting used to the noises of rowdy 10 year-old boys and seeks out his foster mom for reassurance. He is housebroken and will whine at the door to go out when nature calls. He is crazy smart and knows to wait when we reach corners on a walk, does not pull on the leash, and comes when he is called in the house. He lays down in the car like a gentleman and mastered stairs with a little help from Auntie Gwen. Eli is very laid back; he will camp out wherever he can be closest to his family, and will happily move from room to room to be near them. He might be perfectly happy as an only dog but gets along well with other animals, too. His foster mom got to experience her first greyhound hug and smile with this special dog. We think he is wonderful!

MiloMilo -- Adopted and living in Palmdale
Milo is a 9-year-old male who has been living in a home for a number of years. At his age Milo lacks a bit of stamina, but he’s as fast and spry as the 3 year-old greyhound in his foster home. He loves to walk and run in the enclosed park. He's very friendly. Milo comes from an "only dog" home so he's had to make some adjustments to living with two other greys. Milo had no problem sharing all his toys, much to the delight of the other two, but his bed is sacred ground. The female hound in his foster home is Milo's groupie--she follows him around. If Milo gets up, she gets up. Milo is very "Greyhound," he can be often seen with his paws crossed, sitting up straight on his bed all "Mr. Aristocrat" like. Overall Milo is a fun and wonderful dog to have around. He's very soft and loves scratches under his chin.

WhitneyWhitney-- Adopted and living in Thousand Oaks
Whitney is a 3 year-old brindle female with a full coat, and a long, thick tail with a white tip. She tested both cat and small dog tolerant. Whitney adds, "While we’re on the subject of my tail, when I wag it I make it go round and round like the hands of a clock. When I meet people, I approach them and put my right front paw up as if to say 'hello!' People seem to like that because I’m always getting hugged after I do it. I’m average size for a female and still have my girlish figure. I raced in Wichita, Kansas and Tijuana, Mexico. I spend most of my day with my foster dad. Oh, did I mention that they also have a greyhound? A red fawn, male, named Eli. A typical day starts with breakfast with my brother, who I think is really cute. Then we get into the back seat of the truck and go to the park. Eli is so big he takes up the whole back seat, so I sit up front with dad while he pets me and drives. I walk very well on a leash. I know my name, and I come when they call me if I feel like it. I enjoy being around people and other dogs. I enjoy rawhide bones and I eat my breakfast and dinner very slowly.

LunaLuna -- Adopted and living in Santa Clarita
Luna is a sweet, gentle 4 1/2-year-old white female with pale fawn markings. She loves to be with people and enjoys having lots of loving attention. She is house broken and readily uses the dog door or requests you open the door for her. She is able to live with dogs of any size (but not cats) and plays well with the other dogs in her foster home. Luna loves her toys and will toss them in the air, catch them, then run a loop. She also plays with another female dog in the house and puts her rear high in the air in that "play with me" pose. She is a heart breaker with two large perky ears that stand up tall when she is curious and investigating her surroundings.

KiowaKiowa -- Adopted and living in Huntington Beach
Kiowa is a white with brindle male. He is very quiet, smart and well behaved. He learned the dog door immediately. He certainly enjoys neck rubs and hugs. He's had no problem being left alone with the other dogs. In fact he does not seem to need to be with them. He could make for an excellent only dog. He has done fine living in a condo with cats and birds.

CedricCedric -- Adopted and living in Mission Viejo
Cedric i s a tall, lean 6 year-old boy that has a bit more playfulness and energy than most 6 year-old greyhounds. He is extremely affectionate and outgoing and walks very nicely on a leash. He loves all people, adults and kids. Cedric loves to play with his toys and especially loves to run and play with both large and small dogs. He rides well in the car and enjoys going for walks in the park or visits anywhere. He has lived with Pomeranians and now lives with a Miniature Pinscher in his foster home. He should be able to live with cats, as well. He was not a racer, but has the same lovable personality and gentle nature we've come to love in ex-racing greyhounds. He even smiles on occasion.

TrinityTrinity -- Adopted and living in Glendale
Trinity is a 3 year-old black beauty of a girl with a shiny dark coat and white paws. She has a gentle nature and does not demand attention, although when hugs and kisses are handed out, she wants her share. She follows her foster mom around, but is not a "velcro" dog (overly dependent). She knows the doggy door and is polite and obedient on a leash. She knows the word "no" and is learning her boundaries. She likes to run through the house and tries to get the other dogs to join her. She has just discovered toys and thinks they're pretty neat. A gentle word, a daily walk and a cozy dog bed in her forever home would suit her just fine.

FlaviaFlavia -- Adopted and living in Huntington Beach
Flavia is a doe-eyed almost 4 year-old red girl. She came to us with a broken leg so she is confined from activity. She likes to chew on her squeaky toys and marrow bones. She is extremely friendly and has that greyhound smile. She is learning to share her space with the other dogs in her foster home. There are numerous cats in her foster home and she is doing well with them. When going for a ride she settles right down and enjoys it so much she doesn't want to get out of the car when the ride is over. She will probably be very active when she is able to come out of confinement.

AntoniaAntonia -- Adopted and living in Sahuarita, Arizona
Antonia is a 3 1/2 year-old brindle and white girl who has adapted well to retired life. It didn't take her long to find her bed, and it took her just a bit longer to find her toys. She figured out what to do with toys after watching her foster siblings squeak them a few times. Though it took the first few days for her to warm up to her foster moms, now she gets "happy tail" and leans into hugs and kisses. She really puts her effort into trying to cockroach (with all her legs up in the air) and in no time she will be a pro at this essential greyhound skill. Cats don't bother her at all and she is already best friends with her three greyhound foster siblings. She potties so proudly outside and has mastered the doggie door with ease. She stares eagerly as her food is prepared and eats gratefully every last morsel. We love our walks together as one big family, and car rides are fun for her too!

KichiKichi -- Adopted and living in Orange
Kichi is a young 2 1/2 year old red brindle girl who likes her new life away from the track and is curious about EVERYTHING. The refrigerator and its smells are especially interesting and she will actually try to climb into it. Kichi loves toys, especially toys that go squeak, and she plays with her toys throughout the day. She is still learning which things are not toys, however. She loves taking walks and has learned not to pull on the lead. Kichi gets a little nervous riding in the car, so we are working on this. Kichi gets along well with the two greyhounds in her foster home. She sleeps snuggled up with another greyhound; she has yet to sleep alone even though there are empty dog beds nearby. She has a lot of puppy energy and curiosity, is smart, and will try to make you to do things her way. She probably will not do well as an only dog since she is dependent on the dogs in her foster home. Kischi accepts snuggles and love from her humans now (she had some difficulty with this her first few days), and is feeling more secure in her new life as each day goes by.

BrutusBrutus -- Adopted and living in Downtown Los Angeles
Brutus is a handsome, calm 3 1/2-year-old boy who definitely enjoys retirement. He quickly mastered condo living with all its challenges. Brutus is completing housetraining. He is great fun on hour-plus morning walks. He's interested in squirrels and other critters but has no problem moving right along. He enjoys leash-walks and is working  on walking a straight line. Brutus interacts well with neighborhood dogs, whether large or small. He likes the company of his female greyhound housemate and looks to her for guidance.   Brutus tosses stuffy toys about with great enthusiasm. He passed the cat and small dog tests, so should do well with both. Brutus' warm, loving, outgoing personality makes him a joy to have around.

CaesarCaesar -- Adopted and living in Ontario
Caesar is a friendly 3 year-old boy. He lives with 2 Min Pins, a Chihuahua, and 4 cats. He doesn't seem to pay much attention to his roommates because he thinks he's a person. He loves to go for daily walks and loves to be with his people. He's very attached to mom and wishes he could be with her all day. Caesar is very gentle and doesn't mind being babysat by his 13 year-old human brother and 10 year-old human sister when mom is out. Caesar is completely potty trained, but does not like sleeping in his crate. He sleeps on mom's bedroom floor and stays there the entire night. He wakes up with quite a commotion to let mom know it's time to go out. He understands "Let's go potty". Caesar does not like to be alone. He doesn't pay much attention to his canine companions, but he loves other greys. He stays clear of the feline pets in his foster home because they scare him. Caesar has mastered outside stairs, but inside stairs still intimidate him. Caesar is an in-door dog who thinks the outside is just for walking and going potty. He will require a family who won't mind loving him all of the time.

GeorgeGeorge -- Adopted and living in
George is an elegant black-tuxedo boy, almost 3 years old. Although he has not completely relaxed into pet life, he is definitely enjoying learning to be a pet.  George often seems concerned and confused about what is expected of him and yet he is extremely well behaved. He is timid but not spooky, and we expect that with a little time and love this timid boy will blossom into the near perfect companion. He rides well in the car, pulls a little on walks but has improved, isn't especially interested in racing around the yard with his foster greyhounds, loves greyt massages, is polite, gets excited when his foster mom comes home from anywhere (even the mail box on the front porch). At Pet Depo he becomes the center of attention of all there, his physical beauty just draws the people in. He shows no interest in smaller dogs, cats, birds etc. George will be an exceptionally wonderful companion.

AnneAnne -- Adopted and living in Los Angeles
Anne is 3 months shy of her fourth birthday.  Her racing name was RC Taylor Sue, so her foster parents have taken to calling her Taysu. She is currently living with her foster family in Thousand Oaks with 6 (yup - six!) cats, an American Staffordshire Terrier and another greyhound. On the first night home the cats were sleeping with her on her bed so she definitely shows zero aggression to small animals. The two male dogs are big boys and outweigh her by about 20 lbs, but she still holds her own when playing. She asks very politely to be let outside to do her business. She is very easy to walk on a leash and loves going for short walks or to the dog park. She is very friendly and makes sure to say hi to everyone at the park but comes quickly when called by name. Like most of the other greyhounds, she comes even quicker when we use the sqwuaker! Anne has a very gentle mouth and has learned to take take treats from our hands without her teeth even touching our hands. She is currently learning from her foster brothers what toys are and has been sleeping with her stuffed pink bunny rabbit. When she wants love she walks over and places her head against you. If you start petting her she very gently tries to get even closer.

KenjiKenji -- Adopted and living in La Crescenta
Kenji is a 3-1/2-year-old male with a happy outlook about his new life. He has conquered stairs, tile floors, elevators, mirrors, and housetraining. He exhibits a lively curiosity on his walks and he enjoys meeting all the neighbors. Food is a source of great enjoyment, but he continues to work on eliminating certain kitchen manners such as counter surfing and finishing his housemate’s meals. Kenji is self confident and can amuse himself quite well with his stuffies. He seems to enjoys condo living in the company of a female greyhound and doesn't sit on the furniture or chew up things he shouldn't. Kenji’s low-key independence indicates he might do well in a family with mid-size or large dogs or maybe even as an only dog. He would not appreciate living with cats or very small dogs since he finds them just too interesting! He loves human affection and wants to please and can do a complete tail rotation when he is very happy. Kenji is a fun boy with great heart and a wonderful attitude.

SheenaSheena -- Adopted and living in Bakersfield
Sheena is a black 9 year-old girl with a white face. She was reluctantly given up by her owner of 7 years due to no fault of her own. To Sheena age is just a number. She is very friendly to everyone and thinks she is a lap dog. She loves to go for walks and is a very energetic walker. Her foster siblings and mom have a hard time keeping up with her. She rides well in the car but needs a boost to get her back end inside. Once in, she immediately lies down and enjoys the ride. She is living with cats and doesn't mind their scurrying about. She needs lots of attention because she lived as an only dog with a single woman for several years, but is becoming more independent in her foster home.

ElizabethElizabeth -- Adopted and living in Studio City
Elizabeth is a 2-year-old female. She is a real sweetie. She is still a little shy but seems to be coming out of her shell nicely. She gets along well with her dog pack, including a 10-pound Havanese. She
plays some but mostly wants to lay on the big bed or have a little neck scratch, but she's not demanding of attention. She loves her stuffies--she collects them and brings them to her bed. She is doing well on her
leash; she just needs a little reassurance when strangers approach. She is going up and down the stairs without a problem and is really happy to go into her crate at
night for bed. She still needs a little more work on housebreaking but has not had many accidents. She has not gotten on any furniture and seems to be a very fast learner. She has a little mohawk on her neck which they have traced to her Irish lineage. She is going to be a wonderful family pet.

MaryMary -- Adopted and living in Westlake
Mary is a petite, lovely little black two-and-a-half-year-old girl. She is a lot of love and personality in a small package. Mary absolutely adores people and wants to be by your side as much as possible. She follows her foster mom and dad around, and will even get into your lap if you sit with her!  She loves to cuddle and get lots of hugs and kisses. She also likes to give kisses in return, and has that greyhound "smile". Mary is currently living with two other greyhounds and a small Italian Greyhound.  She is a great member of the pack, and gets along well with all of her foster siblings. The IG often tries to entice her to play, and she will wag her tail and get into the game. She likes to frolic a bit in the back yard when the sun is shining, and has done a wonderful job with housebreaking. She runs up and down the stairs like a pro, and pretty much just wants to be where the people are. She is still discovering toys, and is seeing just how neat they can be. Mary would do best in a home where her family can spend a good deal of time with her, or where there are other animal buddies for her to be with when her family is gone. She is a grey who needs and loves companionship, and deserves to be surrounded by that love. She will make a devoted, loving, and affectionate companion.

AmayaAmaya -- Adopted and living in Riverside
Amaya is a 4-1/2-year-old fawn female. Her name means “Night Rain” in Japanese and she has been as welcome and delightful as a night rain. As she investigates everything--pictures on the wall, trash baskets, a noisy printer and what the other dogs are barking at--she is relaxing and becoming more familiar with retired life. It is a joy to watch her as she comes out of her shell more and more every day. She loves to follows her foster mom around the house and wants her share of affection when the other dogs get petted. Amaya is a sweet, quiet dog, but comes alive when a toy is squeaked.  She diligently gathers as many toys as possible and takes them to her bed. Amaya is good on a leash and loves to go for walks. She has conquered the scary staircase and uses the doggy door faithfully.  She gets along with the other dogs in the house,  a greyhound and a lab mix but would not be good with cats or slow-moving opossums. “Night Rain” is a calm and wonderful companion and is looking for a forever home in which to be loved and assured that her kennel days are over.

HenryHenry -- Adopted and living in Burbank
Henry is a 2 1/2-year-old red brindle boy. He is very quiet and calm for a youngster, but enjoys playing with his squeaky toys—tossing, pouncing and chasing. He lives with cats and has mostly come to accept them as a part of the household, but will need to work on this a bit more. Henry climbs into the car on most occasions, but sometimes needs a boost. He walks on the leash nicely and of course loves to go on walks. Overall he is a sweet and loving boy, coming into the bedroom in the morning for his neck and ears to be scratched.

HalHal -- Adopted and living in West Hollywood
Hal is a loving, sweet, 3 1/2-year-old male. He made the long trip from Arizona and says California rocks! He is an endearing boy, a beautiful brindle with gold stripes and a cute overbite. He has settled in very well to family life, and loves to sleep on his dog bed while the family watches television or reads. He is house broken and has conquered the stairs and tile floors. He still believes there is a dog on the other side of the mirror and loves to search for him. He enjoys his toys and plays with them whenever possible. He also loves his dog cookies and any meal you care to give him. He is small dog tolerant, and gets along well with other dogs. Hal is a dog that will just love to hang out with the family. He is eager for love and hugs and will be a wonderful addition to any family.

EdwardEdward -- Adopted and living in Long Beach
Edward is a 3 year old male. Two words describe Edward’s personality: curious and friendly. When he goes for a walk his head and nose are on a swivel. At the dog park he wants to meet everyone, whether dog or human. He is learning how to play by observing other dogs and slowly joining in.  He even went as far once as to chase a ball and pick it up, but then he dropped it. Many times if you are sitting down he will come by and place his head on your chest or lap for petting.  He is gentle with the small dog in the house. A quick learner too, he came into the home virtually housebroken.

UsagiUsagi -- Adopted and living in Alta Loma
Usagi is a sweet, young and active female who won’t even be 2 until April. She is in a foster home with two greyhounds and learning quickly how to be a great pet. She figured out the doggie door without human help and is doing well with all the other pet requirements, including housetraining. She just loves meal times but hasn’t quite caught on to the confusion she creates when she finishes her bowl in lightening speed and then tries to steal the other dog’s food….bad idea for the new kid on the block! Usagi likes playing outside and chasing a ball. But she is a bit intimidated by her foster sister who is the queen of chasing balls. When Usagi does manage to get the ball, she changes the rules and runs back into the house with it as if to say, "I am not playing with you anymore.” Usagi is very curious about everything in the house--counters are of great interest. We are very confident that she will grow up, settle down a wee bit and make a wonderful companion for an active family.

TonyTony -- Adopted and living in Valley Village
Tony is a 7-year-old fawn male of average size. He came to GreySave recently by way of a local animal shelter. This boy is the sweetest, most easy going greyhound around. He has that gentle, soulful way about him and knows exactly when his foster mom needs a snuggle.  He is fine with small dogs, but is a little too interested in the kitties. He does need the recommended 6 foot fence in his yard, and someone who will not leave the gates open, because he has been known to take himself for a walk around town.

PeriwinklePeriwinkle -- Adopted and living in Costa Mesa
Periwinkle is a happy, playful, and affectionate male. He loves to play with people or other dogs--but if no one else will play, he entertains himself by throwing toys in the air and pouncing on them. Although Perry is a bit too interested in cats and little animals, he gets along famously with all the other greyhounds in his foster pack regardless of their temperament. He is extremely affectionate and even gives kisses. He is intelligent and responsive to training as seen when he learned to sit in just over a week. Perry also loves to go for walks and is a perfect gentleman on the leash. He is confident, curious, and outgoing when encountering new things or meeting new people. Perry is a dog that could go with you anywhere or just cuddle with you at home.

MolokaiMolokai -- Adopted and living in Thousand Oaks
Molokai is a handsome boy who just had his fourth birthday. He has the curiosity and lively personality of a younger dog. Molokai has mastered living in a home, including the doggy door, stairs, mirrors and tile floors. He loves walks and constantly swishes his tail when meeting new people. Molokai is very playful and loves to throw a toy in the air and then chase it down and pounce on it. Molokai lives with a female greyhound housemate and enjoys her company. They often run through the house and outside together for the sheer fun of it. He is intelligent, wants to please, and learns quickly. Molokai is a very loving, affectionate boy who thrives on hugs and attention. A yard and people to love would be greatly appreciated.

CheyenneCheyenne -- Adopted and living in Palmdale
Cheyenne, a sweet 2 1/2-year-old, is a beautiful example of a greyhound. Her coat feels like velvet and she is learning to enjoy being petted. She is rather timid, but her foster brother is a great teacher and showing her the ropes of retirement. Her housetraining is coming along well and will be better when she is less shy. She is a good walker--in fact it's one of her favorite things. Her teeth chatter like crazy and her tail goes into spins so big we think she may be part helicopter! She still hasn't figured out the toy thing but her foster brother is doing his best to show her how it's done. She tested small animal safe, but we are having to spend some extra time teaching her that cats are not something to be interested in. She is alert and interested in noises, but they don't seem to scare her.

AngelinaAngelina -- Adopted and living in Bakersfield
Angelina is a 3-year-old black female that is easy going, loving, and happy to be with all people, big and small, young or old.  She adjusted to home life instantly, sleeping on the fluffiest dog beds and on the sofa or bed if we let her. She tested cat friendly and is living with a small dog currently.  She is still exploring the tasty food on the counter, but other than that, she is a perfectly behaved dog. She travels well in the car and lets the other dogs rest their heads on her back during the trip.

BennyBenny -- Adopted and living in Yucaipa
Benny is an 18-mont-old brindle and white male, who has the ability to get anyone out of a bad mood. He is the goofiest, most friendly and super-playful boy that has been through our home. He bounces around the yard like Tigger and plays constantly with the miniature pinscher in our house. He definitely needs other dogs in a home and a yard to keep him entertained. For a puppy, he doesn’t have any bad chewing habits.  He just likes to drag carpets and dog beds around the house occasionally. He shares food with all the other dogs and is happy to be at the bottom of the pack. He is curious and will go out of an open window (if there aren’t any screens) so training him to use a dog door will be no problem.

MikaMika -- Adopted and living in Woodland Hills
Mika will celebrate her 5th birthday in March. She is a wonderful and mellow girl who prefers to follow her foster mom around now that she is away from her long career on the track. She loves everyone from felines to canines of all shapes and sizes. She lives with an older greyhound gentleman and a small white poodle. Mika likes company and would do best with other canine companions in the home. She is more of a sedentary girl than some greys, preferring short walks and a cushy bed at home to curl up in. Her favorite activity is playing with stuffed animals and nuzzling up to her foster greyhound brother.

HoshiHoshi -- Adopted and living in West Hills
Hoshi is a 4-year-old dark brindle male, with beautiful golden eyes.  He could not be any more sweet, and is extremely loving and trusting. He does great with new people, and loves to get all the attention he can!  Hoshi will lean gently on your legs to let you know that it is time for some petting. He loves to cozy up and nap on his dog beds, and even enjoys sharing a bed with his foster brothers and sisters. Hoshi is currently living with two greyhounds and an Italian Greyhound, and does well with all of them. He loves to share toys and to lay in the sunshine in the back yard with his buddies. Hoshi is extremely well-mannered and learned the rules of the house in no time. He has mastered the stairs and is now learning to go for walks on the leash.  He would be a great addition to a household with other doggies, or may do  well as an only dog as he lives for love and petting. His calm, gentle and loving nature that make him the perfect companion!

KaneKane -- Adopted and living in Costa Mesa
Kane is a sweet, easy-going big male that loves all dogs--even the small ones. As a 2 ½ year old, he has some spurts of energy but still lies around the house with all the other lazy greyhounds. Toys are a special treat for him and he will need to go to a home with a good supply of squeaky toys.  He is a great dog for kids, since he loves them and wags his tail in helicopter mode when he meets them. He loves every one and like most greyhounds will not be a good guard dog because he will kiss everybody. He walks perfectly on a leash.

ChippewaChippewa-- Adopted and living in Silver Lake
Chippewa has been called “Chip” since the very first night.  It fits his personality well.  He is just a sweet, regular 3-year-old guy who really just wants to be happy.  His long nose knows food from a distance, but he is learning that counter-surfing is a no-no.  He gets along well with his three foster siblings, curling up around them on a dog bed.  He perks up when he hears the leash and does well on his morning walks.  At meet and greets he enjoys meeting new people and isn’t bothered by the occasional dog paw accidentally stepping on him.  He takes treats respectfully and his tail wags in rhythm with the other three greyhound tails in the house.  He loves to have his head scrubbed and purrs when you find the right spot.  Chip seems laid back and calm but is not afraid to have a little fun.  He tugs and squeaks his toys and runs with the other greys outside.  He has learned how to use the doggie door and, with help, is adjusting to his cat siblings as well. He is eager to please and learns quickly.  He can walk with confidence on the hardwood floors and has figured out mirrors and reflections in windows.  He is a special boy that loves to love and be loved.

ApacheApache -- Adopted and living in Studio City
Apache is a striking black & white boy who is 2yr 9 mo. old. He is a proper gent who will kiss your hand when he greets you. He learned the dog door his first night in his foster home. He entertains himself with a squeaky toy. Somehow he knows to sit (not on command yet) but he doesn't sit like a greyhound; he sits more like other dog breeds. He loves to go for a walk and walks nicely on the leash. He needs help getting into the car, but and he eventually lies down and enjoys the ride.

ShawneeShawnee -- Adopted and living in Northridge
Shawnee is a tall, elegant and very beautiful 4-year-old little lady, with perfect behavior and manners.  She gets along with any and all dogs, large and small.  She loves all people big and small; she just walks up and puts her head in people’s lap for attention.  She walks nicely on a leash. She has outgrown those pesky puppy behaviors, is very obedient and comes when she is called.  She would love to live in a home with another greyhound.

WaimeaWaimea -- Adopted and living in Rancho Cucamonga
Waimea is a spunky and affectionate girl with perfect manners. She loves to just hang out wherever her people are, even if that means lying on the hard tile floor. She gets the zips in the morning, doing laps and playing for several minutes. She loves kids and adults and would fit in almost any home. She thinks kitties are too interesting, but is fine with the miniature pinscher in our home. She brings all new meaning to being “toy crazy” tossing them in the air, pouncing on them, zigging and zagging to find where she has just tossed the toy. We just sit back and laugh as she entertains us with her antics.

KickapooKickapoo -- Adopted and living in Valley Village
Kickapoo is an adorably sweet 2 1/2-year-old girl. She's white with black markings at her ears and tail. Kickapoo loves to toss her toy in the air, catch it and then run in a circle with it. She lives with three other dogs and makes an excellent pack member.  Kickapoo has mastered the doggy door, but prefers most of the time to be in the house with her foster parents. Once inside, she loves to lay on a good bed close to humans. Kickapoo does not like to be away from her foster parents for very long, but has stayed in the house for hours while we are gone with no issues. She has never had an accident in the house and lets us know when she needs to go outside. Kickapoo would do just fine as an only dog, however her interest in small animals and/or cats needs further testing.

VeniceVenice -- Adopted and living in Thousand Oaks
Venice is a wonderful 4 1/2-year-old female. She learned the stairs and just about any other challenge very quickly.  She is an independent gal that loves to be with people and other dogs.  She loves her "stuffy" toys and is happy to play with anyone. She lets us know when she has to go out and thoroughly enjoys her walks.  She is always first to greet us and the first to be in line for human affection. She comes when called and truly does listen to her foster mom. She has captured the hearts of all those who live in her foster home.

Note: Venice is on Medical Hold until mid-November.

RiniRini -- Adopted and living in Rancho Cucamonga
Rini is a 4 year old  perfect greyhound, the kind that people who have had greyhounds forever describe to non-greyhound people.  She is calm, ladylike, has perfect manners, is affectionate but not pushy, and gets along with all hounds, other breeds, small dogs and cats.  She is starting to play with toys along with playing with the miniature pinscher in the foster home.  She loves going for walks and rides in the car.

HopiHopi -- Adopted and living in Westlake Village
Hopi is a well adjusted, happy 3-year-old brindle girl.  She loves everyone, has never had an accident in the house, and loves to snuggle.  She still slips and slides on hardwood floors or on the shiny floors in Pet Depo and makes everyone laugh.  She is learning to play with toys--tossing them in the air and jumping to get them, taking them to her bed and sleeping with them.  She does pull on the lead when taken for walks, but is improving.  She wants to please her humans, and will be an excellent companion.  Hopi has beautiful, expressive brown eyes and a sweet disposition.

HanaHana -- Adopted and living in Laguna Beach
Hana is a sweet, bubbly little 2 ½ year old.  She needs the company of other dogs and would like her people around more often than not.  She gets along well with cats and small dogs.  She walks nicely on a leash but goes crazy with joy when the leashes come out.
