ForestForest -- Adopted and living in Northridge
Forest is a 2 1/2-year-old fawn male. If you’re looking for a greyhound with the personality of a Lab, then Forest is the dog for you. He has plenty of energy to play for hours with the miniature pinscher at his foster home. All toys, great and small, even the toilet paper, are there for his enjoyment. Forest adores children, adults and seniors--basically anyone that gives him a glance is his new best friend. If people are telling jokes and laughing, he does like to add to the conversation with a short “roo.” When he finally tires himself out, he curls upside down on a dog bed and smiles at everyone to show them how cute he is. He has tested cat tolerant, but currently lives with a small dog and other greyhounds, not a cat.

BunnyBunny-- Adopted and living in Long Beach
Bunny is a tiny little black female who is a little shy on the one hand but affectionate and silly on the other. She likes to give kisses to people and to other dogs and really needs the companionship and assurance that other dogs give her. She is fine with small dogs and cats. She picks up toys once in a while but really loves to sun herself out in the grass.

KauaiKauai-- Adopted and living in Signal Hill
Kauai, a black female, gets along very well with her foster dog pack--even with the little fluffy guy. She is starting to learn about stuffies and especially likes to collect them. In just a week she fit into the family like she's been here forever. She greets strangers with a happy tail, and has a great appetite. She is very quiet--we haven't heard her bark once. She loves to go on walks and rides well in the car. She is a definite snuggler and wants to be with her people all the time. She is a quick learner and is eager to please, she is learning very easily all the house rules and proper doggie etiquette. She is an absolute joy to have around. I'm sure if her people wanted her to snuggle on the couch she would be more than happy to.

SiouxSioux-- Adopted by GreySave

Sioux is a 2-year-old little princess that will surely be happy to steal someone’s heart.  She is gentle and affectionate and loves to play with her squeaky toys. She walks nicely on a leash, and eats just about anything that you put in front of her.  She picks out the fluffiest dog bed and curls up into a little ball.  She still has a few puppyish behaviors like helping herself to some treats from the trashcan, but as soon as she puts on some weight, she should get over that.

LarkspurLarkspur -- Adopted and living in Glendale
Larkspur is a large mellow 2-year-old male. He is beautifully marked and has a sweet and loving disposition. Larkspur, AKA "Lars," loves hanging out with his people and enjoys his comfy dog bed. He loves to chew on his dog toys and especially likes them when they squeak. This gentle boy has turned into a big teddy bear. He enjoys having his tummy rubbed and being told how handsome he is. He is getting along very well with the other greyhounds in his foster and should do well with other large dogs. But he thinks all little animals are his to chase. He is now potty trained and will whine to go out. When able to use the dog door he takes care of matters by himself. He walks without pulling on the leash (unless he sees something he can chase). Lars loves retirement and will make some family a loving pet.

LanaiLanai-- Adopted and living in Victorville
Lanai is a small brindle girl. We call her the “Petite Pistol.”  Every ounce of her is overflowing with personality.  She greets each day joyfully and walks well on lead. She stops to smell the flowers and plants and doesn't just sniff at them but puts her entire face down into the plant. She has spurts of puppy playfulness--which make her foster mom laugh out loud every day. Currently Lanai thinks everything in her path is a toy, just for her.  So, we are working on what is and is not a toy, and Lanai has proven as sensitive and eager to please as she is joyful and playful.

She gets along great with the other greyhounds in her foster home, and they seem to think she is a great little companion.  She seems a little too interested in really small dogs and cats, so would do best in a home with medium to larger dogs and no cats. She is very affectionate; she loves to snuggle and give kisses.  Her ears are a little big for her small head and often fall to the left side, giving her a sweet but silly look.

OahuOahu -- Adopted and living in Glendale
Oahu is a “smallish” 3 year old brindle and white boy. He is very curious and friendly. He likes his greyhound foster brother Derek and Dalmatian sister Dolly and thinks the cats and kittens are new special furry friends. He would just love to play with the felines but would probably play a bit too rough. When he gets interested in playing with them his foster Mom says “no Kitty” and Oahu just looks and lets them be. He loves his squeaky toys, even without the squeaky, and will play and toss them around just for fun. He is doing well on a leash except that he gets real excited when he sees other dogs because he thinks they want to play. Oahu ’s whole life is dedicated to eating, sleeping and standing guard over the other sleeping dogs. He would be happiest living with another greyhound or large dog that will play with him.

MauiMaui -- Adopted and living in Lancaster
Maui is a spunky and happy little girl. She is a sister of Brussels, who recently came off the track. Maui loves playing with the miniature pinscher in the home or tossing toys in the air. When she’s not playing, she’s sleeping on the fluffiest bed she can find. Her nickname is Wiggle-Waggle since she is always wagging her tail. She can be half asleep on her bed and if someone walks by, she will wag her tail and try to get you to pet her. She is a kisser.

PoppyPoppy -- Adopted and living in Orange
Poppy is a charming 3-year-old red fawn boy with a big heart. He loves being with people, and he gets along well with his two foster brothers. Poppy began to play with toys almost immediately, and he has fun romping with the other dogs. When Poppy visited a school, he was calm and happy amidst all the attention of about fifteen school-age children. Poppy walks well on a leash, knows how to use a doggy door, and lies down in the car within minutes of leaving the house. He had only a couple of accidents in his first days in his foster home but he learned very quickly about house training. He now has full run of the house. This is a boy with lots of personality and love to share.

JadeJade -- Adopted and living in Orange
Jade is a black five-year-old female with some frosting on her face and soulful eyes. She ran 155 races, and although she likes her new life away from the track, she is still uncertain just how she fits in. She gets along well with the other greyhounds in her foster home, plays with them, sleeps and eats with them. She is discovering toys that go squeak, and seems quite pleased with herself that she can make those noises. She is shy with people, and uncomfortable away from her fellow greyhounds. Jade is a gentle, respectful, intelligent girl, and with a little more time to adjust to becoming a pet, she will be a great companion. Her foster mom thinks she has that little something special, that gentle intelligence with just a little protective instinct that is oh so not greyhoundish.

PeridotPeridot -- Adopted and living in Rancho Cucamonga
Peridot, or Perry as we call him, is an alert, gentle 3 1/2-year-old boy with soulful eyes. He thinks toys are just the best and enjoys rummaging through the toy boxes to find just the right one. He loves going on walks and taking in all the new sights. Perry is still a little shy with new people and places, but he continues to gain confidence in his new life as a pet. He is very loving and wants to be near his people. He enjoys sunbathing and basking in the freedom of his backyard. While Perry should not go to a home with cats or small dogs, he needs to be in a home with other canine companions.

HunterHunter -- Adopted and living in West Hollywood
Hunteris a white male, nearly three years old, with lots of personality. He has earned the nickname "the little polar bear" because he is so soft and white, with big dark eyes. Hunter is extremely sweet, trusting, and very affectionate. He loves people and loves getting hugs and kisses. Although he still has a very puppy-like playfulness and curiosity, he is also extremely well-mannered and learns quickly. Hunter is eager to please and picks up rules and the routine of the house in no time. Hunter is currently living with other greyhounds as well as a small Italian Greyhound, and does very well with all of the dogs. He loves playing with them, but would most likely do equally well as an only dog since he really craves human attention, too. Hunter loves playing with toys, and can entertain himself for a long time chasing and throwing them up in the air. He mastered the stairs on the first day, and is now a complete expert with his potty training. Hunter is a sweet, fun, loving and gentle soul who will make an amazingly greyt pet!

OliveOlive -- Adopted and living in West Hollywood
Olive is a beautiful, somewhat shy, yet playful 3-year-old dark brindle female. She is quite petite and can sit with ease. She is sensitive to quick movements but is developing trust and confidence as the days go by. Except when running, she is a bit clumsy and has run afoul of an electric cord and a candle stand. The experiences were quite frightful to both her and her foster family. She is now more careful when exploring her new world. Olive is very eager to please and to bond with any humans that are patient. Olive currently lives with three dogs, two greyhounds and a Lab, and seems to like that arrangement since there is always something going on. She is playful, loves to roll in the grass, chase a ball, and play greyhound games. Olive does very well walking on a lead, loves to ride in the car, but is still working on her “sea legs” when the car is moving. She is house trained but still working on mastering the doggie door. Olive is a sweet, considerate, beautiful little female, and would make a great companion to a somewhat quiet family.

BerlinBerlin -- Adopted and living in Covina
Berlin is a sweet 3-year-old girl with dark mascara and beautiful, dark eyes.  She is a very loving personality and wants to be with her foster mom and pack most of the time.  But sometimes, even at night, she will sleep in a distant part of the house--quite endearing and unusual for a greyhound.  Amazingly, if she is not around the other dogs during the day she is probably asleep in her x-pen!  About 95% of the time she is very mellow and loves to relax on a soft pad with her feet dangling over the edge.  The other 5% of the time she is all action, or wants to be.  You see, Berlin tore the ligaments in her right hock while racing her 76th race on July 16, and is still in recovery mode. She loves stuffies and would love to throw, catch or pounce on them if her mom would let her.  She also wants to play with the other greyhounds but is still on “limited” activity until the end of the month. Berlin is a bit timid when out walking and in particular is concerned about strangers approaching and loud noise but she is working on it.  She lives with a beagle and does well with him, other small dogs, and even cats!  She has great vision, very curious and is a sight hound's sight hound in many ways.  She is a dear, sweet, and quite personable girl that will make someone a very special companion.

MarliMarli -- Adopted and living in Los Angeles
Marli is a petite and dainty 7-year-old girly girl. She loves to snuggle and wants to be close to her people as often as possible. She also loves walks and is a dream on the leash. She thinks car rides are the greatest and settles down quickly. Marli is very outgoing, loves meeting new people and going places. Marli thinks she's a lap dog so her absolute favorite pastime is cuddling and trying to wriggle on to your lap. Marli previously lived with a tiny Chihuahua and her foster home has several greyhounds. She appears to get along well with dogs no matter their size. Marli's perfect Forever Home would be one with another dog and a family that is home often to cuddle with her.

BrusselsBrussels -- Adopted and living in Stanton
Brussels is a sweet and very mellow 2-year-old male who is still figuring out which parts of his gangly body actually belong to him. He has a fuzzy coat and is very affectionate. He loves smooching and being hugged, and his happiest day would be spent with his head on your lap or napping at your side. He is good with medium to large dogs but not with cats. He has been very reliable with his housetraining and follows directions well. He learned the foster home rules in just one week! It only took him another few days to find his place in the pack and to settle into their routine—with the help of his two foster greyhound brothers. Now he is learning about squeaky toys and thinks they are fun to prance around with. His foster mom even let him take the squeaky sheep on a tour around the block and he didn’t drop it once! Brussels doesn’t really like being by himself, but is quite relaxed when his dog and people family are close by. He is very curious. Smells are particularly exciting. His foster mom reports that he will be loving, faithful and dedicated to his new family—the best giant lap dog you ever had!

TulipTulip-- Adopted and living in Las Cruces, NM
Tulip is a 3 1/2-year-old light brindle female. She is a truly sweet and affectionate young lady. She loves to take walks and say a friendly hello to all the neighborhood cats and dogs. Tulip is very bright and has already figured out how to open and close doors, not a normal greyhound talent! She prefers not to be alone at home but does not mind staying with other dogs--so she would probably not be happy as an only dog. Tulip is a true "Velcro greyhound" (clings to everything) and follows her foster mom everywhere. She is just starting to learn how to play with her poodle brother. Tulip gets a gold star for never having an accident!

GenevaGeneva-- Adopted and living in Fullerton
Geneva is a sweet, rather shy, and elegant two-year-old girl. She is doing very well in her foster home, which she shares with a 14-year-old Shepherd/Collie mix, two cats, two rabbits and a tortoise. Although she treats the other animals with respect, she will occasionally try to chase the squirrels in the yard. Geneva is not the slightest bit bothered about household noises such as the washing machine or vacuum cleaner. She spends most of her day going between the house and the yard as she pleases, but settles well into her kennel and goes to sleep when her foster family goes out. She is quiet and very well behaved in the house. Although she likes to play with the feather duster and carry items such as socks out to the yard, she is not showing any destructive tendencies. In the evening she enjoys a long walk. She likes to sleep in her own bed with either a human or another dog nearby.

KellyKelly -- Adopted and living in Irvine

Kelly is gentle, sweet and unassuming.  Giving kisses and getting neck scritches are her favorite things in life.  Kelly loves meeting new people but can be a bit shy of quick movements and loud unexpected noises.  She just needs more time to develop some social confidence.  Kelly loves other dogs and appears to be cat and small animal friendly.  She mastered the doggie door quickly and patiently waits her turn for treats and attention with 5 other competitors.  This is an adorable little girl with a great personality that will continue to blossom!

DaisyDaisy -- Adopted and living in Irvine
Daisy is a happy 2-year-old brindle female. She loves children and doesn’t mind cats. Daisy has quickly found her favorite indoor play place--an area close to the recreation room. She also loves office work and can be found at her foster mom's or pop’s feet while they work. For fun she goes outside in the yard and runs for a few minutes, but prefers to hear a reassuring word from time to time when she is alone in the yard. She has done well by herself in the house for 3-4 hours at a time, although she enjoys having people around far more. On walks Daisy loves to visit the local park or just walk through the neighborhood. She rarely barks and shows no signs of aggression toward other animals, children, or adults. She does get a bit nervous when grown ups come up to her too fast. She reacts by backing off until she is spoken to and then she relaxes and is fine. For some strange reason soccer balls scare her but she is getting used to seeing them at the parks. Daisy also enjoys jogging (slowly) with her foster mom, but only for short spurts. Sometimes Daisy enjoys romping with the children in her foster family, and at other times we enjoys just watching them. She loves a good belly rub and curls up with the family for our nightly story hour. It is said that Greyhounds can be caught smiling, as her foster mom, I believe I have caught her smiling often.

RomeRome -- Adopted and living on Catalina
Rome or "Romeo," as his foster mom calls him, is a handsome 2 1/2-year-old dark brindle boy.  He lives with lots of cats and doesn't seem to mind them too much. But if they run he wants to chase them until he hears a loud "no kitty." He lives with a greyhound boy and a Dalmatian girl. His foster mom thinks he would not do well as an only dog. Human company during the day would make him extremely happy. He is somewhat timid when other dogs come up too quickly while on a walk.  He hides behind his mom at first, but recovers fast once he gets to meet the other dog. He is basically a quiet boy, really loves his walks and of course loves mealtimes. He has learned to play with squeaky toys and actually will chase a ball. He is very friendly to everyone, somewhat of a "velcro dog."

SamSam -- Adopted and living in Sherman Oaks
Sam is a sweet, affectionate, very handsome, somewhat large 2-year-old male. He loves all people no matter who or what size they are. He loves to race around the yard and play with all the dog toys. He is a great companion, loves riding in the car and taking long walks. Sam loves greyhounds and other medium to large dog breeds. He's well behaved around small dogs while on leash but can't live with cats. Sam is quite in tune with the humans in his life, listens well and knows his name. He has all the basic house challenges figured out, uses a dog door and stays off human beds and furniture. He just loves food but patiently waits at the kitchen thresh hold until dinner is served. He will make a great pet for family that understands that Sam is young , playful and needs some exercise. He would really like to live with another dog who will play with him and maybe some older children would be fun too.

RoseRose -- Adopted and living in Sherman Oaks
Rose is a 4-year-old red fawn charmer. She is seriously curious about all things, which makes her personality a blast. She loves to play with toys, and is generally the first up for a good romp around the yard. Rose currently lives with three Greyhounds and a Labrador Retriever and would do well with other dogs. Her tendency to desire human attention might also make her an excellent only dog. Rose should not go to a home with small dogs or cats, as her curiosity is a bit high when it comes to the smaller, furry creatures. Rose has never had an accident in her foster home, enjoys a good, long walk, and mastered the doggy door with no problem. Rose loves attention from her human and insists that her muzzle meets the human chest before neck scratching begins. Rose likes to go out the dog door and wait until her foster parents return home or maybe she has figured out the sound of the car and likes to be the first to greet them. Rose would make a sweet and loving family companion.

IrisIris -- Adopted and living in Silver Lake
Iris is a 4 1/2 year old black, calm and assertive female. She's very respectful when in the house but quite playful outside. Iris loves to toss her stuffed animals high in the air and catch them, over and over. She is currently living with three other Greyhounds and a Labrador Retriever. She is an excellent sibling to all and would do well with other dogs. Iris walks excellently when on leash, has never had an accident in the foster home, and loves to roll over lazily on the lawn. Iris knows how to relax on a good soft bed. She can enjoy a good rawhide bone for several hours. Iris is very smart and learns quickly. This little girl is a loving and respectful grey that would be a truly loving family companion.

JulepJulep -- Adopted and living in Chatsworth
Julep, at 1 1/2-years-old, is all puppy. She loves to play and is more active than the average greyhound. She is like a retriever, picking up everything around the house and bringing it to her bed. She is very curious, friendly, and is great with all the other dogs. Julep is wonderful on a leash, and loves to go for long walks. She looks to the other dogs and to the people in the house for direction on what to do next. She would probably do best in a home with a yard where she can play and run. She loves to explore nature, sniffing every bush and flower.

LondonLondon -- Adopted and living in Palmdale
London is a sweet and handsome, 4-year-old red brindle male. He is very smart and willing to please. His favorite way to great new people is with gentle kisses and big wags of his very long tail. London was house trained very quickly, much to the relief of his family. He loves his walks--he dances with joy when he hears his leash. On the walk he is very business-like--always by his walker's side. London hasn't quite figured out how to play yet, but otherwise has settled into retirement mode very well. He is polite, extremely loving, and very calm. He hasn't been startled by a single noise and isn't all that interested in cats or other dogs.

LilyLily -- Adopted and living in Pasadena
Lily is a very happy 2-year-old "puppy"--curious and very active. She figured out the dog door easily, found the best comfy sleeping spots on day one, and is fearless when it comes to facing down her big brother Cosmo, the "Stuffy Repossessor." She plays with "his" toy, he follows her and takes it back as soon as she puts it down--at which point she just goes and gets another one. This leads to lots of squeaky contests between the two. They also have a blast running laps around the backyard, taking naps side-by-side on the sofa or on their beds, and of course going for walks. She's a wiggly little girl who loves to be loved, which is a good thing, because she's very lovable--a champion cockroach with a soft pink tummy that begs to be rubbed.

ViennaVienna -- Adopted and living in Thousand Oaks
Vienna is a very sweet 2 1/2 year old greyhound girl. She is doing very well with house training and has no problem jumping into the car. She has mastered the stairs and is always the first one up them. She enjoys her walks and is very well behaved on her leash. Her favorite thing to do is to play with her stuffed toys and if they have a sqeaky sound to them, all the better! You can hear her creating music out of all the squeaky toys in the foster home. She is great with little animals, and even tolerates the cat. She probably would do well as an only dog. She is one very happy little girl. She will be a wonderful addition to any family.

MadridMadrid -- Adopted and living in Chino
Madrid, or Maddie as she is called at her foster home, is a sweet, somewhat timid 2-year-old little girl. She is a cute blondie (an unusually light fawn color). She is starting to toss toys around--all the little stuffies in the toy bowl have found their way to various parts of the house and yard. Maddie taught herself the doggie door, comes excitedly to greet returning family members--squeezing in close to be petted as long as her foster brothers are there to give her courage. Each day her foster mom and dad see her own courage growing as she learns about how great life off the track can be.

DublinDublin -- Adopted and living in Signal Hill
Dublin is a fun-loving 2-year-old girl that loves to run with the other foster dog in her family, as well as to pounce on and play with her toys.  She is a wee bit shy and does depend on the other dogs for security. She is starting to give the foster mom kisses each morning when it's time to wake up and get breakfast.  She gets along with all dogs, small or large, as well as with cats.

ParisParis -- Adopted and living in Corona
Paris, a 3-year-old female, has a larger than life personality and love for being the center of attention. She adores kids, teens and everyone else that will pet her. She tosses her toys and pounces on them with glee. She likes to explore new places, including the swimming pool. Paris plays with the miniature pinscher in the foster home, and likes to run laps with the other hounds.

AberdeenAberdeen-- Adopted and living in Eagle Rock
Aberdeen is a 3 1/2-year-old laid-back boy with a very sweet nature.  He approaches new adventures with caution.  He enjoys his female greyhound housemate and looks to her for direction. Toys are a mystery that he is trying to solve. He loves his walks, and would love nothing more than to take them 24/7! He is learning to walk well on a lead.  Nothing bothers him on walks--not squirrels, loud noises, other dogs, or street activity--he takes it all in stride. Aberdeen has comfortably settled into condo life. He likes having his own "puffy" bed downstairs for hanging out and one upstairs for serious sleeping. He has shown no desire for furniture sitting.  He enjoys making friends, and neighbors enjoy meeting him. Aberdeen would probably do best in a home with another dog for company. He appreciates patience when introduced to new situations. But with his gentle nature he adjusts quickly.

MilanMilan -- Adopted and living in Eagle Rock
Milan is a 2 1/2-year-old greyhound girl with a sweet disposition. She gives plenty of kisses and likes to snuggle. She loves squeaky toys, likes to chase tennis balls, and sometimes will even bring them back. She really wants to play with other greyhounds and is disappointed when they won't play with her. She did very well with a visiting 4 year-old child who petted her nicely and loved her kisses. She is a bit of a counter surfer and even taste tested a ketchup packet left on counter. Having had a prior success with the condiments she snagged a peach and a banana. She reports that the banana was quite tasty and can't figure why they didn't serve those at the track. She recently discovered the couch and the people bed! She walks pretty well on leash. Milan is as active as she should be for her age and very friendly. She isn't pushy or demanding but can express herself with a subtle growl if crowded or cornered by other greys. She seems to be okay sharing food and waits her turn for treats. In general, she is just a great greyhound girl trying to see what this new world holds for her.

DusseldorfDusseldorf -- Adopted and living in Granada Hills
Dusseldorf is a 2-year old all-black male, with only a couple of small white markings.  Dussey, as we are calling him, still has the sweetness and curiosity of a puppy, and gets so excited to explore and learn new things. He is already housebroken and loves to run in the yard with his foster siblings.  He also loves to go for walks, and gets very excited when he sees the leash come out!  Dussey is living with 2 other greyhounds and also a small Italian Greyhound, and has done wonderfully with all the dogs, both small and large.  We think he might do equally well as an "only dog" as he is very independent, and looks more for human affection.  He would need his humans home with him often.  He loves to play with toys, especially stuffed ones, which he hunts and pounces and then runs around with them in his mouth!  He has a beautiful shiny coat, and is a very healthy eater.  Dussey is overall just an extremely loving, sweet, fun and mannered young man!

GimletGimlet -- Adopted and living in Manhattan Beach
Gimlet is a sweet little brindle girl that is still very much a puppy at just shy of 2 years of age. She likes to play with whatever she can find around the house, including the miniature pinscher in her foster home. She walks perfectly on a leash and wags her tail at all the people and animals that walk by. She is very social and is quite the snuggler.

ManhattanManhattan -- Adopted and living in Venice
Manhattan is a handsome, 4 1/2 year old red-fawn male. He is as smart as he is handsome and happy to be retired. He is quick to learn. He took to condo living like a champ. He enjoys the company of his female greyhound housemate. He loves his neighborhood walks--he especially enjoys meeting new people. He is very polite and extremely loving. He is curious about his toys and checks to see what his housemate does with hers. He is not sure about cats and is trying to make up his mind about squirrels. He IS sure about the kitchen, however--he loves his food. He is extremely relaxed and a joy to have around!

IsabelIsabel -- Adopted and living in Venice
Isabel appears to be an easy-going 2 1/2-year-old. She came to GreySave on April 17 with a severely dislocated tarsus bone. Isabel had her surgery on April 19 and is now recuperating. She is a very friendly, loving, beautiful girl who is living with a beagle, several greyhounds and will soon move in with some cats. Isabel won’t be ready for adoption for a while. She’s hoping to be ready for her Forever Home by mid-summer. Isabel’s is our first recipient of your contributions to the “Greytlove Fund.” Thanks!

AbbazabbaAbbaZabba -- Adopted and living in Thousand Oaks
AbbaZabba is a 3 1/2 year old white with brindle male. He thinks his job is Greyhound ambassador. He loves people and is outgoing, but polite. He loves to snuggle and thinks people were put on earth to pet him. Although he has the confidence to be an only dog, he loves playing with or sleeping next to other greyhounds. Once he gets to know you, he'll be happy to give you a little kiss.

SangriaSangria -- Adopted and living in Alhambra
Sangria is a 4 year old female, goes straight to your head! She is a sweet, good-natured, playful, and loving girl. She can be very energetic at times, but knows how to settle into a dog bed for a good, long nap. She is an expert “cock-roacher" (sleeping on her back with legs up in the air). She gets along well with the female and male greyhound in her foster home. She even likes to give them both kisses and never runs out of kisses for people, either. She likes to squeak her toys, loves her daily walks, and knows that cats are friends, not food. This is especially good as she lives in a home with four of them! A wagging tail and eager eyes greet every new human and animal. She hasn’t had any accidents in the house and fits in perfectly. She’s easy and fun and so happy to be in a home!

Mai TaiMai Tai -- Adopted and living in Hancock Park
Mai Tai is a gorgeous 2 1/2 year old female. She's very calm and well-behaved for such a young girl; a truly marvelous, polite dog. She learned to use the dog door right away and is extremely happy when she sees the leashes come out. She loves her walkies and walks beautifully at her human's side. She's been very friendly to little dogs and children and is only interested in cats when they run away. She's just learning to play, and when she's excited, she lies down and drums her front paws on the floor, rooing happily. It gives her foster mom the giggles. In a very un-grehoundlike way, she's a good watchdog, letting you know when something is out of the ordinary. She loves hugs and kisses and will lay her head over your shoulder when you put your arms around her. Her foster mom will have a hard time saying goodbye when her lucky new forever family comes along.

MartiniMartini -- Adopted and living in Hancock Park
Martini is a four year old white with brindle boy. He has sweet eyes and a loving face. He enjoys the companionship of his three foster siblings (two greyhounds and an Italian Greyhound), and would do well in a home with another dog as a pal. Martini does well with all types and sizes of canines in the home and on walks. Though he is still somewhat shy, he is coming out of his shell more and more every day. After just a few minutes of checking them out, he will greet strangers. He loves to be with his people and is very affectionate. He is also learning how to play with toys from his foster friends. He is a quick study, loves to play in the yard and to go for walks.

StingerStinger -- Adopted and living in Upland
Stinger is a 3 year old male. His first hour at his new foster home was spent exploring the house, the backyard (several times over), and figuring out the doggie door. Once that was done he took a nap! Stinger is extremely good natured and does not get upset even when his greyhound sister growls at him if he happens to get too close to her stuff. He already knows she is the boss and just walks away. After just two days he discovered toys, began carrying around a stuffie and even began playing the greyhound game of toss the stuffie. He loves dog bones and other treats and takes then gently from his mom's hand. He loves to be petted and will nudge for attention. He gets along great with the other dogs, but also enjoys nap time wherever he finds a comfy spot.

SpritzerSpritzer --Adopted and living in Ontario
Spritzer, a 4 year old male, LOVES hugs! On his first night in his foster home he walked up to "Mom" while she was seated, put his head on her shoulder, and leaned close for the best possible petting and hugging. His foster brothers think he's a good guy and they let him share their beds. Spritzer is curious and happy. He's learning to use the doggy door. He's a calm dog--the typical laid-back greyhound. He likes stuffed squeaky toys and he's learning to "sit." This shiny black boy with two white toes is patiently waiting for his forever home.

Jerry LeeJerry Lee -- Adopted and living in Anaheim
Jerry Lee is a silver white, somewhat long haired older greyhound gentleman whose family can no longer keep him due to no fault of his own.  Jerry Lee’s life experiences have been many.  He originally came from Phoenix, has lived in Las Vegas and more recently moved to So. CA.  He is a bit older than most greyhounds GreySave fosters, maybe 8 or 9 but in good health.  He is not tattooed, is well behaved, just loves to please people and had been working on his Canine Good Citizen certificate.  He has lived with several cats; lived in apartments; comforted an ailing grandmother; been a sibling to a little girl and now just when he though he could hang out in the sun he needs a new forever home.

ChickletsChicklets -- Adopted and living in Stevenson Ranch
Chicklets is a 2 1/2 year old girl who came to GreySave from Wichita. Her foster mom believes she should be renamed to Love Bug because she loves everyone. She is a very quick learner, mastering the stairs and house training quickly. Her foster mom says that she wins the gold star for not ever having an accident in the house. She welcomes every day as if it is very special and greets visitors with bunches of kisses.  She especially loves the yard since there are avocados in it.  Avocados not only taste good to her, but they give her coat a healthy glow. She has learned to play with toys and romps around the yard with the family greyhounds. She may be a bit of a klepto, taking and hiding things in her bed especially if they beautiful. She is a sweet, loving, human-seeking ear-rubber greyhound who loves to run.  She has been around quite a few very small dogs and passes by them as if they weren't there. She lived with a cat for a few days and was a bit interested but never aggressive so she may be OK living with one with a bit of training. Chicklets will certainly make someone very happy.

Bit 'o HoneyBit o' Honey -- Adopted and living in Pasadena
Bit o' Honey is a brindle female. Bits, as her foster mom calls her, is very happy to have finally retired.  When GreySave picked up the hounds at the track this time, she parked herself in front of the gate so we could not leave without her!  Since she was a “bit” over five and raced nearly 200 times she was wondering when she could become a “retired racer.” Now retired, she loves to follow her foster mom around just to keep her eye on her and maybe also because she is still a bit shy. Bits wakes her foster mom up if she needs to go out early in the morning before her foster mom get up since mom is part of the retired club too! Bits also deserves a gold star, according to her foster mom, for never having an accident in the house. Bits loves to play with her white poodle mix foster brother. Their favorite game is pushing tennis balls around with their noses in the yard. Bits enjoys going for walks.  Walks are great because she gets to meet new people, the neighborhood children and the cats too. Bits is a sweet and easy dog to have around, is still a little sensitive to loud noises and slightly timid with strangers, but is very affectionate and friendly at home. She is pretty mellow even for a greyhound.  She likes to play and take walks, but also likes to sleep. Her mom reports that Bits gets along with just about everybody and can't wait to find her forever home.

CaramelCaramel -- Adopted and living in Montebello
Caramel is a brindle female. Her foster mom calls her perfect. She is a sweet, petite, love bug who’s all girl. She settled instantly into her new foster home. She doesn’t mind cats or small dogs and gets along well both with the active female greyhound and laid-back male greyhound in her foster home. Caramel loves all people and will gladly give you a kiss if you’d like one. She is very well behaved on a leash, ignoring most of the small critters that walk or run by. She is starting to play with toys.

SnickersSnickers -- Adopted and living in Fountain Valley
Snickers is a 2-year-old fawn boy that likes cats and all dogs. He's a bit shy and needs some encouragement. Once he feels safe he is an affectionate and happy dog. He will greet you with a smile most of the time. Like just about every Greyhound he is ready to go anywhere with you at any time, and likes to be where the people are. He thinks he is very smart so wasn't surprised when told "you're going to be tutored today." He knows that something is different after leaving the vet's office, but is not sure what it is.

PiscesPisces -- Adopted and living in Long Beach
Pisces is a very pretty red fawn 2 1⁄2-year-old female with exotic eye markings. She is extremely affectionate with people, would love to be petted endlessly but is not demanding about it. She loves to pounce on her toys, toss them and run around the backyard with the other greyhounds so she can burn off some of that 2-year-old greyhound energy. Pisces loves to go for walks and is quite the good walker. She likes to ride in the car and is a very quick learner having already kicked the counter surfing habit she once had. She has met children at show and tells and thought they were just fine especially when they petted her and told her she was pretty! Pisces is very adaptive and will fit well into a variety of homes as long as they have a yard or someplace for her to do her daily exercise runs. She does have one request and that is she really does not want to live with cats, tiny fluffy dogs or rodents.

TaffyTaffy -- Adopted and living in Fountain Valley
Taffy is a brindle female. She is a real sweetheart that instantly knew she wanted to rest on the big, fluffy dog bed. She loves all people including kids, and wags her tail whenever they come to pet her. She gets along with all the small animals she visits such as small dogs, cats and birds. The small, yappy dogs can scare her at times, though. She is being fostered in a condo and does well with multiple daily walks, where she takes the opportunity to smell the flowers along the way.

HersheyHershey -- Adopted and living in West Los Angeles
Hershey is a white with black male.
He is a gentle soul. He loves people both large and small. Open your arms, and he'll walk right in. Hershey is OK around small animals (he’s not living with any in his foster home). He jumps easily into the car when it’s time to go for a ride, he walks on a leash with the very best of manners, and uses the doggy door like a champ.

He’s discovered that soft toys that squeak are something fun. This sweet boy is happy to share a bed with another hound but he’d do fine as an "only" dog too. Hershey’s foster parents think he’s the perfect greyhound.

CometComet -- Adopted and living in North Hollywood
Comet is a friendly, curious, playful black beauty with the exuberance of a two-year-old. She loves to run through the house and around the backyard. She plays with toys and her dog friends. She is excited to go on walks and does well on a leash, although she shows great interest in cats and tiny dogs. If you put your face down to her level, she will cover you with kisses. Wherever her foster mom goes, Comet is never far behind. If Mom leaves the house, Comet anxiously stares out the window until she returns, and then gives her a joyful welcome home. Comet sleeps on Mom's bed. But we don't know whether that is because she wants to be as close as possible to Mom or whether she already thinks she's a princess and deserves this luxury. Comet will do best if there are other dogs to play with and an attentive family who has the time to lavish love on her that will be returned many times over. Comet has never met an adult or child that she did not like but does not want to live with small fluffy noisy dogs or cats.

SummerSummer --Adopted in Pasadena. Crossed the Rainbow Bridge September 2007.

Anyone who has met Summer (or “Miss Summer” as we call her) just loves her. This almost seven-year-old charmer really gets to your heart! She is quite pixie-like at a tiny 54.2 pounds with big bright eyes, a sly grin and one, or sometimes two, stand-up ears. She still has pretty skinny legs and big feet, and a bony head and spine, but she is putting on weight now and growing round at the tummy and rib cage. To read more about her and why she was on Medical Hold see "Summer the Survivor" in the July/August GreySave Scoop newsletter.

Summer is a very quiet and sweet 6 1/2-year-old girl that has been feeling quite under the weather. She came to GreySave very thin, blind and extremely ill. She now appears to be on the mend. She has regained some of her sight and is now regaining weight.
